linda, verify that you added the webcenter extension to your JDeveloper instance.

the compile errors seems to indicate it is missing.

Hello,

We are having problems when trying to Run the Departments.jspx page, step 33 and page 50 of the hands-on-lab (HOL) documentation. The page takes 30 minutes or more to come up. Is there any additional setup we could do to speed this up?

Also, when we click the 'Graph' tab on the Departments.jspx page it says retrieving data and then goes blank instead of showing the Bar Chart. Do you know if we are missing a step here?

Thanks,

Shawn

5. Jun 28, 2012

Shawn, Please supply more details:

• What are the specifics of the system you are doing this lab on? Memory, CPU, OS, etc...
• Is it really 30 minutes every time and if so, when the page does come up, is it performing as designed without error?
• As for the graph, it's hard to say without seeing your page. Can you supply your workspace on a FTP server somewhere, etc.
1. Jun 28, 2012

We are running the lab using Windows XP, Dell D630 Latitude 2GHz, Intel Core2 Duo CPU, 2GB of RAM.

The first time we run it is 30 minutes but then it drops to 20 minutes after that. I'll ask another co-worker to verify if it is taking the same amount of time as a double check. Other than the graph, it does operate without error. We are just worried about holding up the class waiting for our labs to run each time. Is this class designed this way or will the instructor be just showing us the labs using their system?

I do have a FTP utility we use here but I will need your e-mail address in order to send you the link to get my zipped workspace. What is your e-mail address?

Thanks,

Shawn

1. Jun 28, 2012

Well the 2GB of RAM is most likely your problem. 4GB is recommended and even better if you have more. The first run builds the weblogic domain and then after it simply starts the server and deploys the app so it makes sense it takes less time second go around. You can email the app to me and I'll give it a test run. dana.singleterry@oracle.com

1. Jun 29, 2012

it shouldnt be taking you that long to run. can you check if you have an antivirus running and if so disable it and see if you get better performance?

2. Jul 02, 2012

Hi Dana,

You can also increase the ram alloted to jdev. Try it and make it perfrom better.

Regards,

Dinesh Vishnu Kumar. C

We found that the graph does display but only after selecting one of the buttons (prev, first, next, last). First time the tab for Graph is selected it displays as blank. We did get a message 'retrieving data' and then nothing. I think this is not normal when the page first loads. What needs to be changed, so you do not have to press a button (next previous, last, first)?

6. Jun 28, 2012

Hello,

We are having problems when trying to Run the AppModule, step 19 and page 13 of the hands-on-lab (HOL) documentation. We are getting a "(oracle.jbo.ConfigException) JBO-33001: Configuration file /tester.xcfg is not found in the classpath." error. The https://kr.forums.oracle.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=2273990 link said to modify the adf-config.xml to fix this. I did modify the file and it did fix the problem. I am just wondering if this is the correct fix for this problem?

Thanks,

Shawn

7. Jun 28, 2012

Hi Shawn,

This seems reasonable as I don't believe you're using MDS and if it works then great!

Hi,

where is the url for presentations?

Thanks,

Ravi

1. Jul 10, 2012

Presentations in PDf format will be downloadable from the virtual environment at 9am PST - https://oracle.6connex.com/portal/fusiondev/login

14. Jul 10, 2012

I am on Page 70, Step 28: There is no Oracle Composer in drop down.

I see only Composer. I selected that but image looks very different.

1. Jul 10, 2012

I did not find "Oracle Composer" either and went ahead using the "Composer", no other problem though.

15. Jul 10, 2012

Will this be recorded for later?

1. Jul 10, 2012

Yes content will be ondemand after 1pm PST, but you won;t have the Oracle experts online to answer questions immediately.

16. Jul 10, 2012

Page 27 steps 6 and 7 I could not get the page splitter vertical as shown in the step. I wonder whether I am missing anything here. Thanks.

1. Jul 10, 2012

Try and set the splitter through the structure window in JDeveloper - (bottom left) it is sometime easier to find out the page structure from there and choose the right component.

17. Jul 11, 2012

Site looks super cool!

Till what date will it continue to be available ?

1. Jul 11, 2012

Content will be OnDemand via this platform for at least a month. The content will then be moved to Oracle Technology Network website as we have done with our other Virtual developer days - http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/community/developer-day/otnvdd-ondemand-484711.html

Hi.

Sorry if this question has already been made, but I would like to know if is it possible to use JDeveloper 11.1.1.4.0.

Thanks

1. Mar 01, 2013

You should be able to use 11.1.1.4 - but we haven't tested the tutorial with that version.

The graph doesn't show, there is a short visable message about get data , but it disappears fast. I don't see any buttons (see post of [user12094570)|../../../../../../../../../../display/%7E20625]

In the log I find

1. Mar 05, 2013

Hi,

I am sorry, I am not an Oracle XE expert, so I might not be able to help you. Still your listener.ora file looks weird to me. Is this the listener of the XE database? I was expecting something like:XE =
(DESCRIPTION =
(ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = localhost)(PORT = 1521))
(CONNECT_DATA =
(SERVER = DEDICATED)
(SERVICE_NAME = XE)
)
)In your file I do not see any trace that there is a listener on the TCP port 1521. I do not even see the SID called XE defined there.

BTW, if you read the lab prerequisite, you should know, that you can not use JDeveloper 11.1.2.3.0. In the 11.1.2 WebCenter is not supported yet. You might be able to complete the first few steps, but once you have to use the webCenter Application, you can not follow the lab steps any longer. Please use JDeveloper 11.1.1.6.0.

1. Mar 06, 2013

thank you sooo much for the replay and yes i also thought the same about the Listener file but what you wrote is defined in tnsnames.ORA file so i thought that its okay. But i will try to copy it in my listener file and try to work on it so thanks again for the replay.

I also installed jdeveloper 11.1.6.0

On https://oracle.6connex.com/portal/fusiondev I logged in, but I don't get any indication there wil be activity within 1 hour. Do I have to wait until 9.00 ? Can I leave the browser-window as it is, or do I have to take some action ?
