I miss the wiki version already!

  2. Jan 10, 2012

Me too.. Its hopeless to search the Oracle documentation :-(

    1. Jan 10, 2012

The 11.1.3 information on the 12c site does have a search so I changed the link above.

  3. Jan 12, 2012

this wiki is hopeless.  Anyone have a list of supported hardware for ops centre ?

  4. Jan 12, 2012

Please use the link to the OTN Ops Center docs. Do not use the wiki. This page was only set up until people got used to going to the OTN FOR DOCUMENTATION.The certification list is in the Reference Guide.

    Thank you.

It doesn't help that at least some of the help links in ops centre point to the wiki.

It also doesn't help that the official documentation does not cover things that were mentioned in the wiki, I may have missed it but I couldn't find any mention of the cli in the docs.  If it were not for a mention on the wiki I would still be struggling with trying to get my ops centre install switched from disconnected to connected mode.  Quite simply trying the switch with the web interface just an obscure error about a "SOA cannot be checked" (much much later I realised SOA was Sun Online Account), using the cli I was able to switch from disconnected to connected without issue.  So, to me, the wiki was a valuable resource that helped me resolve a problem that the documentation was not helpful with.  It is sad that this resource has been taken away.

The CLI information was part of the 2.5 documentation, which is posted on Java.net :

    http://java.net/projects/oc-doctor/downloads/directory/Ops%20Center%20Documentation/Ops%20Center%202.5%20User%20Documentation

Also it is now part of the OC Doctor.

Thanks for the link but it does seem rather odd to me that we get pointed off to the "old" documentation to cover something that is still shipped in the software package.

As Magnus noted, the link to the cli documentation is broken - you get a 404, you also get a 404 trying to access the latest ocdoctor download.

The cli is not part of OCDoctor-3.06.zip, there is a directory there but it contains a single, empty, directory.  I don't know if this is fixed in 3.07 because I cannot download it.  Again, when running v3.06 the help message points you to wikis.sun.com.

To me, is seems like Oracle are not focussing enough resources on OC, there isn't enough depth to the documentation to help troubleshoot things when things go wrong and the deep dive technical information is now locked away, there are links all over the place that reference the old sun wiki which is frustrating from a couple of points of view, one is the link is broken and goes nowhere and the other is that the information that may help was available and now it is not - it is not just a matter of a location change, it is gone for good.

you will find the New OCDoctor.. one on http://java.net/projects/oc-doctor/downloads

        But no documents..

        Br Magnus

Well said.  If I'd known it would be gone for good I would have downloaded it all.

        1. Jan 24, 2012

What concerns me is the lack of attention to detail.  For example, on the download page for OEM Ops centre (http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/oem/ops-center/oem-ops-center-188778.html), the links to the documentation still points to the wikis.sun.com.  Makes me wonder if the installation documentation can be trusted.

Anyone know of a way to integrate OEM Ops Center with CA NSM?
We are only deploying Ops Center 11gR1, without OEM Grid.
