Virtual Developer Day Java Pre-Event Checklist

The following information will help ensure your system is configured to participate in the virtual event. If you choose to participate in the hands-on-lab, you will need to obtain the necessary software ahead of the event.

General Event Information

The virtual conference is an on-line environment where you can view and listen to presentations and participate in live chat sessions with our technical staff and other attendees. The sessions will start at the times specified in the agenda.

You can perform an automatic system check by visiting http://oracle.6connex.com/portal/java/login and clicking on the “System Check” button on the lower right hand corner.

System Requirements

General requirements Software requirements
  • High speed broadband connection (DSL or better)
  • Network access to ports 80 / 443
  • OS: Windows XP/Vista/7, or Mac OSX
  • Screen resolution should at least1280x720 or similar 16:9 aspect ratio
  • Supported browsers: Safari 4, Firefox 3+, IE7,8+. *Please disable pop-up blockers
  • Computer with functioning headphones or speakers
  • Flash Plug-in: 10+

Hands on Lab Track Instructions
To participate in the hands-on-labs, you’ll need to download and install:
• JDK 7 update 2
• NetBeans 7.1
A bundle of JDK 7 Update 2 with NetBeans 7.1 is conveniently available here: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/index.html

Note: At this time the Java FX lab is Windows only.  The Java FX roadmap for supporting Mac and Linux can be viewed here:http://javafx.com/roadmap/
