setup Usage

This utility was renamed to simply setup in Indexing and Search Service 1 Update 2. In previous releases, the utility was called setup.sh.

The setup utility configures and starts all services for Indexing and Search Service. This script expects all supporting services to be running, including:

  • GlassFish Server
  • GlassFish Message Queue
  • Directory Server (for ISS and Messaging Server message store)

Requirements: Must be root.

Location: iss-base/bin/setup

Syntax

setup [ -u ] [ -v ] [ -O ] [ -b basedir ] [ -c | -f conf ]
    [ -l logfile ] [ -t web,index,jmq,ldap,cluster,all ]
    [ -i isshost ] [ -L ] [ -S save_state ] [ -s ]

The -s option was introduced in Indexing and Search Service 1 Update 2.

Options

These are the options for this command:

Option Description
-u Optional. Specifies to run in UNINSTALL mode.
-b BASEDIR Required. Specifies the base directory of the installation.
-S STATEFILE Optional. Generates state file based on install.
-l LOGFILE Optional. Defaults to /var/tmp/jiss-install.pid.
-i ISSHOST Optional. Fully qualified domain name to use for host name.
-c CONF_FILE Optional. Specifies a file from which to read configuration information for the jiss.conf file.
-f CONF_FILE Optional. Specifies a file from which to read configuration information for the jiss.conf file.
-L Optional. Use /bin/hostname for the ISS machine name, /bin/hostname must return a FQDN.
-t TYPE Optional. Defaults to all. The type of install or uninstall to perform, can be a comma separated list:
all: All components
web: Configure GlassFish Server
jmq: Configure GlassFish Message Queue
ldap: Configure Directory Server
cluster: Configure Cluster Services
index: Configure Index and start indexing services
-O Optional. Overwrites the jiss.conf and jiss_passwd.conf if present.
-s Optional. Install but do not start index services.
-v Optional. Enables shell debugging.
-h Optional. Prints help text.

Arguments can appear in any order.

Examples

Install and configure all services:

# /opt/sun/comms/jiss/bin/setup -t all

Uninstall:

# /opt/sun/comms/jiss/bin/setup -u

Install and take options from a configuration file:

# /opt/sun/comms/jiss/bin/setup -c my.conf

Install and overwrite existing configuration:

# /opt/sun/comms/jiss/bin/setup -O

Install and use host to answer ISS questions:

#  /opt/sun/comms/jiss/bin/setup -i isshost.example.com

Set up only ldap and jmq configurations:

# /opt/sun/comms/jiss/bin/setup -t ldap,jmq
